Maintenance Mechanic - Lead

Responsibilities
Overall, the Maintenance Lead will assist in the daily leadership, to direct personnel, assign personnel, troubleshoot equipment, perform tasks from hands on functions to planning, perform the duties of a maintenance mechanic, follow safety protocols, ensure GMP compliance, notify maintenance leadership of any issues, fill out reports, lead shift hand off meetings, and perform various other functions at the Oneida facility as needed and or assigned
Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, working in a safe manner, and following all GMP related procedures
Interact effectively with equipment and facility maintenance including, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, repair, fabrication, using shop tools and equipment, performing assigned work, accessing parts and work orders through a CMMS, actively participating in CI activities, performing inspections, performing audits, performing overhauls, following all electrical safety precautions, performing regulatory checks, working with various utility functions, while working in a collaborative manner with the Oneida team, in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner

The Maintenance Lead position is a developmental role, as part of the leadership in the maintenance department
As a lead, responsibilities will include having to work under the mentorship and leadership of the shift maintenance supervisors, maintenance management, and/or senior leadership to learn the necessary skills for successfully leading a team of maintenance of techs, as well as support other department leadership
Internal, and external training and development techniques will be used, and the Lead will be expected to attend assigned training, to develop the necessary skillsets
The Lead will maintain good standing within HP Hood LLC and always represent in a professional manner
Active involvement and hands-on engagement in all Safety programs, quality items, performance, various audits, and policies
Assist the shift supervisor in assigning work, following up on assigned work, and ensuring the teams have the necessary resources to perform job/project successfully
Joint responsibility with the supervisor to provide excellent service to the various department on-site, through professional maintenance and continuous improvement activities
Promote the company’s mission, purpose, and goals
Work closely with the technical training dept, for SOP creations, and training maintenance techs
Support employees by coaching, mentoring, and resolving issues/bottlenecks issues to increase productivity, job capabilities
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing, environmental, safety, and employee work rules and engagement
Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing of tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner
Support all utilities, Boilers, Refrigeration, and Compressed Air systems, as well as manufacturing processes
Become an SME on various aspects and functions of the Oneida facility and process
Ensure effective communication between shifts and other departments
Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or senior plant leadership
Qualification
Required
GED or High School Diploma with at least 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience with increased responsibilities
Documented vocational schooling preferred. Mechatronics a plus
Prior Manufacturing Maintenance leadership experience preferred
Prior Manufacturing maintenance and utilities experience preferred
Prior Electrical, Plumbing, Fabricating, and Troubleshooting preferred
Prior experience in reading Schematics, P&ID's, Mechanical drawings, and Manuals
Prior experience with PLC and HMI Controls preferred
Experience with Steam systems a plus
Experience with Air compressors a plus
Experience with Boiler and Steam systems a plus
Experience with Wastewater systems a plus
Ammonia 2 Operator certificate a plus, and or receive certification within 1 year
Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
Team oriented; Ability to collaborate and operate in a team environment
Ability to work independently, and make decisions, in a team-based environment
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to accommodate various hours and fill in when supervision is absent
Must be able to report to work at scheduled times
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and extended shifts when assigned per schedule
Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch
Handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations
Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds frequently
Ability to lift items greater than 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions
Ability to work in various environmental work conditions range from below zero conditions to hot conditions, work around chemicals, and work around allergen-based products, but not limited to all these stated conditions
