Structural Design Engineer
KPFF Consulting Engineers is an engineering design firm dedicated to innovative and sustainable engineering. Responsibilities
Design with purpose: You will perform structural analysis and design for building systems, including framing, foundations, and connections, using industry-standard tools and methods
Own your work: You will prepare structural calculations and design documentation that align with building codes, project specifications, and client expectations
Collaborate in design development: You will work closely with senior engineers to develop creative and practical structural solutions across a variety of project types
Draw and detail: You will use AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software to create and refine structural drawings with accuracy and clarity
Get out in the field: You will visit project sites to assess conditions, verify construction progress, and confirm alignment with the intended design
Coordinate and communicate: You will partner with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure smooth integration of structural systems with other disciplines
Contribute to the team: You will mentor junior engineers and interns, offering guidance and supporting a collaborative, learning-focused environment
Prioritize quality: You will participate in internal quality control reviews and help ensure our work reflects KPFF’s standards for accuracy, safety, and excellence
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (a master's degree is preferred)
A minimum of four years of experience in structural engineering design
A Professional Engineer (PE) license
Proficiency in structural design software, such as ETABS, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and Revit
A solid understanding of building codes, structural systems, and construction practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting
Preferred
A master's degree in civil or structural engineering
