Responsibilities
Perform moderate to advanced levels of engineering calculations, alternatives analysis, design and drafting for a variety of transportation projects including sidewalks, bike paths, local roadways, intersections, highways, freeways, and other transportation facilities
Conduct site visits, CAD mark-ups and drafting, geometric roadway layout and design, performing 3D corridor modeling, writing project specifications and technical reports, calculating construction quantities, estimating construction costs, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, and preparing project correspondence
Perform moderately complex design tasks independently
Effectively divide projects into individual tasks
Lead technical effort on small projects
Perform quality control technical checking of basic deliverables
Review, interpret, and employ appropriate design guidance from technical memos and reports
Produce technical reports and memos, specifications, construction quantity calculations and cost estimates, design documents and construction plans, and exhibits
Understand scopes, schedules, and budgets, and predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort
Select and employ design codes such as AASHTO and FHWA appropriately
Engage in frequent client communications, resolve issues on small projects, and attend client meetings
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree required
Years of experience required: 4 years
Years of experience required with advanced degree: 3 years
PE required
Driving is an essential job function or a valid driver's license is required to support legitimate business purposes
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Developing skills in Market Sector Software (AutoCAD C3D)
Developing skills in Market Sector Software (Microstation Connect and OpenRoads) - if applicable
Basic skills in 3D design and visualizations (e.g., Revit, Infraworks) - if applicable
Basic skills in Task Specific software (e.g., AutoTurn, GuideSign)
Intermediate understanding of technical fundamentals
Ability to perform moderately complex design tasks independently
Ability to effectively divide projects into individual tasks
Ability to lead technical effort on small projects
Ability to perform quality control technical checking of basic deliverables
Ability to review, interpret, and employ appropriate design guidance from technical memos and reports
Team player who is able to follow on large, complex projects and lead a small team on simple tasks
Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets
Ability to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort
Ability to consistently meet budget and schedule expectations on projects
