Responsibilities

Provides a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations

Recognizes, documents and reports critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician

Documents pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms

Customizes the END recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed END waveforms

Differentiates artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses and troubleshoots possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts

Disinfects testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies

Ensures procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician

Identifies and monitors opportunities for performance improvement of services

Determines any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders

Conducts EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures

Participates in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required
