Responsibilities

A mammography technologist will provide patient services using various imaging modalities, which may include Stereotactic, Contrast Mammography, and DEXA. Mammographers are expected to perform screening and diagnostic procedures in a fast-paced environment

Need to exercise critical thinking skills, be able to troubleshoot, and be able to manage stress

Must be able to work well with others and have effective communication skills

Technologists follow the direction of the Breast Center Radiologist and established procedures/protocols

Shifts are spent with extensive time on their feet, which includes standing, squatting, and bending

When performing exams, the technologist must adhere to all radiation safety precautions

Technologists must be available to complete exams at the main facility (HBC), detached facilities, and outreach settings

A technologist is responsible for their quality of images, positioning skills, and the basic knowledge of quality control tests
