Valley Health is a healthcare organization seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support surgical procedures. The CST will work under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure patient safety and the effective conduct of surgeries.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures

Ensure that the operating room environment is safe

Ensure that equipment functions properly

Conduct operative procedures under conditions that maximize patient safety

Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique

Combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures

Required

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology course required

If working in Virginia, VA State license required prior to the start of employment

NBSTSA Certification required

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required

New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation

Demonstrates expertise in the delivery of care and possesses the skills necessary to perform complex tasks

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span

Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served
