Sr. Software Architect

Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end architectural design for:
Targeted advertising platforms supporting both passenger personalization and airline monetization
Global media content management, ingestion, transcoding, and distribution workflows
Over-the-air (OTA) delivery systems for applications, software updates, and content refresh cycles
Digital marketplaces and e-commerce systems enabling in-flight retail and third-party integrations
Unified application platforms supporting modular service delivery across seatback, mobile, and crew interfaces
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data science, product management, security, and airline customers
Establish architectural standards, reference designs, and system integration blueprints to support high-availability, low-latency, and security-compliant delivery in both airborne and ground environments
Contribute to long-term platform and technology strategies including edge/cloud compute models, containerized workloads, observability, and data governance
Provide architectural leadership on build vs. buy decisions, vendor integrations, and partner ecosystem development
Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on platform evolution, scalability, and business impact of digital innovation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
10+ years of software architecture experience in high-scale digital platforms, ideally including advertising technology, e-commerce, or media distribution
Strong knowledge of distributed system design, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures
Deep understanding of OTA software distribution, CI/CD, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and observability
Familiarity with data engineering, real-time analytics, personalization engines, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
Track record of building extensible platforms supporting third-party developers, marketplace dynamics, or modular app ecosystems
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage airline stakeholders, business leads, and cross-geo engineering teams
Preferred
Experience in aviation, automotive, telco, or similar regulated, safety-critical industries
Knowledge of airline operations, passenger experience platforms, or onboard commerce models
Exposure to cloud-native platforms (AWS) and edge computing at scale

Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive unlimited PTO. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year plus a paid company-wide shut down in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year.
