Responsibilities

Demonstrates proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing
Performs other duties as assigned
Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery and emergency management procedures related to performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing
Provides appropriate instruction/education to patients tested in the PFT laboratory
Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and instrumentation related to provision of diagnostic pulmonary function testing
Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties

Respiratory Therapist licensePulmonary function testingNational Board certificationMicrosoft Windows softwarePatient assessmentEmergency managementCommunication skills

Required

Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy
New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Respiratory Therapist Technician license
Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT), with CPFT specialty credential within a year of hire
Computer competency, including basic understanding of, and ability to work with, Microsoft Windows based pulmonary function software programs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

Bachelors degree with preference for 2 years experience working with patients in a clinical setting
Experience in an acute care hospital and/or PFT laboratory
