Assistant Professor - Accounting and Legal Studies
Coppin State University is seeking an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Legal Studies to teach at the undergraduate and possibly graduate levels. The role involves teaching financial accounting, integrating AI tools into the classroom, publishing scholarly research, and providing service to the department and university.

Responsibilities
Teaching at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate level
Teaching financial accounting through the advanced level and at least one secondary area with a strong preference given to candidates qualified to teach cost accounting, graduate managerial accounting, and/or other upper-level accounting courses
The integration of AI tools into the classroom
The normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester, but a six-credit hour per semester teaching load will be granted for the first academic year
Publishing scholarly research in accordance with AACSB requirements
Providing service to the department, school, and university
Utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners
Qualification
Required
PhD/DBA degree or ABD in Accounting, from an AACSB accredited institution. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before date of hire
Potential or demonstrated ability to be an excellent teacher
Potential or demonstrated ability to publish a steady stream of peer-reviewed scholarly research
Interest in teaching in a hybrid or online format
Professional certification or commitment to attain certification within two years of starting date of employment
Preferred
Experience using AI in the classroom
An emerging portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in academic journals
At least one professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, etc.)
