Substation Protection and Control/Relay Engineer

Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is seeking a talented Protection & Control Engineer to join their team remotely to support the Atlanta office. In this role, you will investigate, troubleshoot, and solve issues related to electric facilities and substation protection, while preparing necessary schematics and drawings for modifications and upgrades.

Responsibilities

Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of existing electric facilities, substation protection and control issues
Prepare protection and control schematics, wiring drawings, and relay philosophies for substation modifications and upgrades to meet client requirements

Qualification

EIT/PE certificationBSEE in power systemsRelay protection engineeringUtility-based softwareProgramming knowledgeDesign codesDetail-oriented mindsetTeam collaboration

Required

EIT/ PE certification
BSEE in power systems or a similar field
At least 2-8 years of experience in protection/control/telecommunications for high-voltage substations
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Proven track record of excelling in team-based environments
Detail-oriented mindset

Preferred

Knowledge of utility-based software programs such as ASPEN, SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, or other related programs
Programming knowledge or experience with protection relays and other substation equipment
Knowledge of engineering theory, practices, and procedures, including NERC requirements
Experience in power protection, relay design and planning
