Responsibilities

Support flow-down of high-level product requirements to requirements for optical sub-systems and components

Perform optical design meeting flow-down requirements for optical system

Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical engineering, system engineering etc to support design trades and define workable solutions on tight schedules

Manage laboratory test and implementation of optical systems and components

Conduct presentations of optical designs, analysis, tests data in internal meetings and to customers when required

Required

US citizenship required

MS/PhD in Optical Engineering/Physics or other relevant discipline 10+ years' experience in relevant optical engineering environment

Optical System Design using software tools e.g. Zemax

Experienced in operating within multi-discipline team on collaborative hardware development projects within budget and timeline constraints

Skilled in optical laboratory work using laser and optical diagnostics including cameras, beam profilers, photodetectors

Experience with fiber optics and associated tools

Preferred

Develop and run simulations using Matlab and/ or Python

Expertise with Space or Flight hardware

Experience in optical telecommunications

Experience managing/coordinating small teams of junior engineers

Active Security Clearance preferred
