Responsibilities

Influence company goal setting by representing engineering’s current and future capacity & capabilities

Strategically align division teams with the company direction, then communicate the vision and plan to the rest of the engineering team and other stakeholders

Understand how to navigate a complex domain area and reconcile market, budget, and competing priorities as constraints

Department budget ownership not limited to but including current headcount, team development, education, tooling, hiring and retention

Track and evaluate key performance metrics, objectives, dependencies, status, and results of a growing product portfolio

Shape technical processes with the assistance of engineering leadership

Lead engineering managers, mentor next level down leaders, and build engineering teams in a high-growth environment

Empower developer productivity and set the tone for the culture of the department

Evaluate technology partners, where appropriate

Collaborate with other departmental leaders (Product, Design, Technical Program Management, Data) to organize initiatives and organizational growth plans

Manage, track and promote employee engagement by building a mission-driven culture of improving patient’s lives built on teamwork, autonomy, interdependence and creative problem-solving

Direct key technical decisions related to application and data model design

Understanding of data structures, TDD, and software engineering design patterns and principles
