Code Compliance & Development Inspector
NEOGOV is seeking a Code Compliance & Development Inspector to enforce local codes and ordinances while conducting erosion control inspections for development permits. The role involves overseeing development permitting, directing code compliance activities, and meeting with various stakeholders to provide guidance and resolve issues.

Responsibilities
Oversees development permitting; verifies that development permits are enforced and verified in the field
Oversees and directs code compliance activities
Meets with citizens, developers, builders, contractors, and subcontractors to provide guidance and resolve issues
Inspects county approved and permitted sites for compliance with the county's soil erosion and sediment control regulations
Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations concerning subdivision development and utilities permitting
Meets with developers, builders, contractors, and subcontractors to provide guidance and resolve issues
Prepares weekly erosion and sediment control reports for permitted sites under development; prepares other related reports
Performs related duties
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
One to two years or directly related code compliance and/or development inspection experience
Or, a combination of education and experience to sufficiently perform the duties associated with this position
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Level 1A Erosion Control Certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
Must possess or be able to complete a minimum of sixteen (16) hours of the curriculum required for the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) certification as a Code Compliance Officer
Knowledge of county ordinances, zoning laws and regulations
Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
Knowledge of construction practices
Knowledge of the Unified Development Code
Knowledge of the methods used in conducting and documenting field inspections
Knowledge of records management principles
Knowledge of modern office principles and practices
Knowledge of standard safe work practices
Skill in the use of computer and job-related software programs
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports
Skill in oral and written communication
