Assistant Professor of Data Science
Mount Holyoke College is inviting applications for a tenure track position in Data Science at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching data science courses, developing curriculum, and conducting research while engaging with a diverse student body.
Education
Responsibilities
Teach at all levels, including an introductory data science course and a project-based capstone course, as well as courses in their area of expertise
Engage in the development of a data science curriculum and enrich data science collaborations on campus
Commit to research, teaching, and mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, and religion
Develop a research program that can easily accommodate and encourage undergraduates
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. or ABD in a relevant field
Strong commitment to research
Ability to teach at all levels, including introductory data science and project-based capstone courses
Experience in developing a data science curriculum
Enthusiasm for enriching data science collaborations on campus
Commitment to mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, and religion
Research program that can accommodate and encourage undergraduates
Submission of a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests, and statement about mentoring a diverse student body
