Assistant Director, Research and Program Evaluation

Responsibilities

Collaborate with partnership staff to co-develop short-term outcomes and accompanying reporting templates
Conduct qualitative interviews and focus groups, develop survey instruments, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in collaboration with rural regional partnerships
Incorporate community voices into partnerships’ learning and evaluation activities
Design and participate in site visits to regional partnerships
With input from the Associate Director, lead the design and implementation of organizational learning activities for the Regional Challenge Grant program
Contribute to the identification, synthesis, and drafting of key findings identified during partnership and programmatic learning and evaluation activities
Bring an equity lens to evaluation activities
Work alongside Regional Partnership staff to maintain non-disclosure agreements and reporting timelines for regional partnership investments
Draft presentations, policy briefs, and technical reports to communicate activities and findings to various audiences, including WSAC’s Council
Lead the Research team’s annual legislative reporting on population-level outcomes for geographies supported by an RCG-funded partnership
Contribute to strategic planning and program management as a member of the Regional Partnerships team

Required

Master's degree in public policy, economics, education, or a related field or a combination of professional training, certifications, or fellowships (such as those in research methods, evaluation, or policy analysis) plus relevant experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of research design, data analysis, and community engagement practices will also be considered in place of a master's degree
Experience using SAS or Stata to clean data and conduct descriptive analysis on large datasets
A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to translate these values into the assigned duties of the position
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and statistics
Experience with program evaluation concepts and activities
Direct experience interpreting research findings for people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and roles
Experience working in a complex organization and coordinating with external organizations
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (including formulas and graphing in Excel and PowerPoint)

Preferred

Doctorate in public policy, education, economics, or other social science disciplines
Written fluency, or near-native written fluency in Spanish
Direct academic, professional, or lived experience with learners living in rural communities
Familiarity with data management and data security issues
Demonstrated experience presenting complex information to diverse audiences
Understanding of issues related to college access and financial aid
Previous academic or professional experience grounding research in equity frameworks
Familiarity with the potential power of place-based strategies to affect systems change
Demonstrated desire and ability to acquire new software skills as needed
