Tourist Tax Collection Analyst (Remote)

Responsibilities

Maintain Tourist Development Tax (TDT) Excise database of all active, inactive and closed accounts
Keep current and maintain all TDT Excise database taxpayer information to include but not limited to: current ownership and contact name(s), mailing and rental addresses, email address and phone numbers
Monitor Tourist Tax Collections and Tourist Tax general email boxes
Handle all Tourist Tax Collections: mail, scanning, shredding, faxes and telephones
Prepare daily deposit. (Excise, RDSO, ACH/E-Check)
Run daily balancing reports
Post payments
Generate and print tax returns as necessary
Prepare correspondence for all active, delinquent, new, closed, inactive, or accounts with a balance due greater than $5, refund request and credits
Accept payments, handle taxpayer inquires (over the phone, by appointment, email or through written correspondence)

Qualification

Required

Associate's degree from a college or university accredited in US or two years of direct experience required; degree major, or area of concentration or related field in Accounting or Finance preferred
Three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties required; experience in government accounting preferred
Three years of customer service experience required
Ability to effectively use financial applications, JD Edwards OneWorld preferred
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and implement applicable Federal and State statutes and regulations required
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and implement Lee County Ordinance as applicable to TDT required
Ability to effectively measure and deliver statistics
Accurate keyboarding, data entry, and 10-key skills required
Accurate sequential filing skills required
Proficiency in business English and business math required
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
Ability to assist others within knowledge areas
Ability to train others within knowledge areas

Preferred

degree major, or area of concentration or related field in Accounting or Finance preferred
experience in government accounting preferred
Ability to effectively use financial applications, JD Edwards OneWorld preferred
