Central Business Solutions Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team. The PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the PostgreSQL database systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database software and related tools
Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
Monitor and tune database performance to optimize query execution and improve overall system efficiency
Perform database capacity planning and resource management to ensure scalability and high availability
Manage database security, including user access control, authentication, and data encryption
Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database schemas and queries
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and system failures
Implement and maintain database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions
Develop and maintain documentation, including database design, installation procedures, and configuration details
Stay up-to-date with the latest PostgreSQL features, technologies, and best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, including installation, configuration, and administration of PostgreSQL database systems
Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL
Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database issues
Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery
Familiarity with database security principles and best practices
Experience with replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions for PostgreSQL (e.g., streaming replication, logical replication, Pgpool-II, Patroni)
Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

PostgreSQL certification (e.g., Certified PostgreSQL Professional)
Experience with other database systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
Knowledge of cloud-based database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL)
Familiarity with database automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
Understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
