Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for utilities, including WFI, RO/DI, clean steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC, ammonia refrigeration, process gases, and wastewater treatment systems
Ensure operational reliability and regulatory compliance of all systems; support root cause investigations, change controls, CAPAs, and deviations
Lead or support troubleshooting efforts for utility-related equipment; develop and optimize preventative maintenance programs in coordination with the reliability engineering team
Maintain and update technical documents, system drawings, SOPs, and user requirement specifications (URS)
Support cross-functional projects and capital improvement efforts; participate in shutdowns, tie-ins, and startup activities
Oversee and support fire protection and alarm systems, solvent gas detection, and electrical control systems; ensure adherence to NFPA, OSHA, and site safety standards
Assist with electrical system support, including short circuit and load studies, coordination analysis, and reviewing electrical single-line diagrams and equipment specs
Monitor performance metrics (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability and reduce downtime
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
Minimum 5 years of experience (or 3 years with M.S.) in utility or facility engineering, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
Working knowledge of electrical distribution (138kV/15kV/480V), fire protection systems, building codes, and CMMS
Experience with cGMP, FDA-regulated environments, and engineering documentation
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and contractors
