Technical Consultant, Workforce Development

Responsibilities

Develop and manage apprenticeship programs that combine on-the-job training with formal education in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, and CNC machining
Deliver hands-on training to apprentices, ensuring they gain practical experience in a variety of technical tasks, including machine operation, troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and system integration
Work with clients to help them develop customized apprenticeship programs tailored to their specific needs and operational goals
Work closely with educational/industry partners and Workforce Development Director to design training manuals, materials, and assessments aligned with vocational training standards set forth by the GACC, adapting them to align industry demand and training program regulations
Develop and refine training materials, including manuals, e-learning resources, and hands-on exercises, to support the apprenticeship program
Design and implement training schedules, ensuring a balance between classroom learning, practical experience, and mentor-guided activities
Advise clients on how to establish mentorship programs, develop career pathways for apprentices, and ensure the successful integration of apprentices into their operations
Actively engage with clients to understand their workforce development needs and help them implement effective training and apprenticeship programs for their employees
Conduct assessments of client facilities to determine training requirements and recommend technical solutions that improve workforce capabilities and operational efficiency
Assist the Workforce Development Director in creating and revising the department’s overall strategy, supporting implementation and expansion of apprenticeship program & working with other GACC offices to exchange best practices and develop a common purpose
Establish and facilitate mentorship programs, pairing apprentices with experienced technicians and engineers to guide their learning and development
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of apprenticeship and training programs, seeking feedback from apprentices, mentors, and clients
Utilize performance data and feedback to refine programs and ensure apprentices receive the highest quality training

Required

Completed undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent, or associate's degree/completed dual apprenticeship in Germany
Relevant experience and knowledge in technical training, workforce development, or industrial machinery
Strong knowledge of the German dual education system preferred
Good understanding of US and German markets and familiarity with both business cultures
Ability to work effectively in a team-based, multicultural environment
Ability to interact with diverse external clients (professionals within a trade, grant organizations, teenaged apprentices, etc.)
Willingness to travel regionally for company visits, exam conduction, meetings with existing/new program stakeholders, etc
Excellent reading, writing, and editing skills
English fluency; proficiency in German language preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

Strong knowledge of the German dual education system
Proficiency in German language
