Certified Biomedical Equipment Tech

Responsibilities
Performs electrical safety checks and inspections on a variety of electrical/electronic devices and maintains Biomedical Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) records and history files on all devices
Determines, analyzes and/or isolates patient care equipment for service, preventive maintenance and repair
Inspects medical equipment and/or systems for signs of deterioration, malfunctions and failure to meet specifications
Maintains quality control and preventive maintenance program
Repairs, maintains and calibrates all medical equipment used in patient care, including life support equipment
Furnish technical services that relate to equipment, systems and special projects
Determines if equipment is suitable for agency needs and specifications
Reviews specifications, schematics, blueprints and writing diagrams; also regulations, codes and requirements from all applicable federal, state, local and recognized organizations
Reviews equipment for departments requesting new, replacement and/or upgrading of equipment or systems
Establishes and administers medical equipment maintenance programs to develop methodology where necessary
Instructs users and operators on proper use, care and safety practices of devices and/or systems
Applies and uses electrical and electronic test and calibration equipment for the preventive maintenance, repair and calibration of all biomedical/ clinical equipment and other devices as required
May supervise as necessary; and
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years biomedical experience and an A.S. Electronics
Two (2) years biomedical experience and an A.S. in Biomedical Electronics
Four (4) years of biomedical experience, and successful completion of the Biomedical Equipment Technician Certificate examination
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license
Must possess and maintain a current Certification of Biomedical Equipment Technician through the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
Must be willing to work at both Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital
Knowledge of biomedical systems theory and procedures, knowledge of diagnostic equipment evaluation and testing procedures
Ability to diagnose and repair biomedical, electrical, mechanical, electronic and/or electro-mechanical problems by use of logic, manuals, schematics, test and calibration equipment to facilitate repair of devices to meet manufacturers' specifications with minimal supervision; maintain an effective working relationship with employees and hospital staff
Skills to interpret complex schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and technical bulletins, communicate effectively
Benefits
