Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks an Associate Director, Training to join Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). This role involves overseeing clinical training, providing culturally informed clinical services, and managing the administrative functions of CAPS to support the mental health of RISD students.

Responsibilities

Oversee the selection, training, and evaluation of clinical trainees in accordance with program guidelines
Manage policy development and implementation; maintaining affiliations with various clinical training programs; and mentoring and guiding RISD’s clinical staff in their roles as trainee supervisors
Develop the schedule for in-service, case conference, and other meetings relevant to the training program
Maintains the trainings, orientation schedules, and presentation materials for CAPS
Plans for and oversees the clinical aspects of the Pre-College Program including training and orientation of Pre-College Counseling staff
Provide culturally informed clinical services to all RISD students
Coordinates the onboarding and internal training of new staff as well as ongoing staff orientation and collaboration with campus partners
Serve in the CAPS on-call rotation for the college to provide direction on responding to student crises and offering time sensitive consultation
As a member of the Counseling Center Administrative Team, provides daily clinical consultation to staff
Supervises front desk administrative position, including the coordination of response to ProtoCall reports

Required

A Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) or a master's degree in counseling (or related field) with at least 7 years of experience post-licensure in mental health settings; or a doctorate in counseling, clinical, or psychology from an APA-accredited program with at least 2 years of experience post-licensure in mental health settings
At least 3-5 years of clinical supervisory experience required
Must be licensed or license-eligible as an LICSW, LMHC, or Psychologist in Rhode Island (i.e. must file for licensure in Rhode Island immediately upon hire and obtain license in accordance with RI State Board of Health prevailing standards and schedules)
Demonstrated experience in program development and evaluation
Demonstrated experience in policy development and implementation
Demonstrated competency providing clinical services for diverse or marginalized clients, including international populations and clients who identify along the gender and sexual orientation spectra
Demonstrated experience with considering and implementing social justice elements into training and practice from a systemic standpoint
Demonstrated competency in managing and responding to crisis and emergency clinical situations
Demonstrated experience providing clinical services for the wide range of presenting issues seen in college students, including assessing and managing risk and the treatment of acute concerns (e.g., eating disorders, self-harm)
Appreciation and knowledge of the process of intersectional identity development
Ability to manage a very full caseload within a time-limited clinical setting
Ability to manage crisis situations, including suicidality and danger to others
Highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner
Strong outreach, consultation, and written and verbal communication skills
Must be computer literate. Ability to run reports, standard and ad-hoc, from electronic medical record program
