Responsibilities

Prepare annual business personal property tax returns and workpapers across all states
Track and prepare mandated health, safety, and business licenses/permits, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with city, county, and state regulations
Maintain a calendar of expiration dates to manage renewals and mitigate compliance risk
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues related to business licenses, permits, and operational filings
Support property tax audits by compiling required information and schedules as requested by assessors
Maintain fixed assets for tax purposes: review additions, disposals, transfers, and enter cost adjustments and proceeds
Prepare workpapers for unclaimed property (escheatment) reporting
Complete various census forms and miscellaneous tax filings
Participate in ad hoc projects as needed

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Solid understanding of business personal property tax and GAAP, especially as related to fixed assets
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Proven ability to maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance

Preferred

0-3 years of experience in business property tax, accounting, or fixed asset accounting preferred
Experience with business permits/licenses and unclaimed property reporting is a plus
