Responsibilities

Maintain a professional lab notebook
Participate in weekly laboratory meetings
Manage nematode and bacteria cultures
Perform aseptic techniques
Assemble and disassemble a Distek bioreactor
Operate standard laboratory equipment (i.e., pipettes, microscopes, autoclaves, laminar flow hoods, etc.)
Conduct literature reviews
Devise experimental plans
Develop critical thinking, data collection, analysis, and visualization skills

Required

Degree focus in chemical engineering, biochemistry, microbiology, or related fields
Completion of general chemistry and biology laboratory courses
Experience operating pipettes, microscopes, and centrifuges
Must be comfortable working with live/dead insect larvae, nematodes, and bacteria cultures
Must be comfortable working at a microscope for extended periods
Excellent general mathematical ability and knowledge in computing rate, ratio, and percent
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to work and communicate effectively both independently and as a team member
Willingness to learn new techniques/skills to improve efficiency/integrity of work
