Experienced Environmental Engineer
WSP is a leading engineering firm currently seeking an Experienced Environmental Engineer for their Charlotte, North Carolina office. The role involves providing project assistance on multi-phase environmental work processes, including site investigation, remediation, and environmental permitting, while ensuring quality standards are met.

Responsibilities
Develop environmental site investigation and remediation strategies for a diverse client base (federal, municipal, commercial, industrial) and projects from various regulatory programs (Superfund, Brownfields, Voluntary Cleanup, etc.)
Develop technical scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for site investigation and remediation activities, based on applicable regulations and client objectives
Lead multi-media investigations that may include subsurface boring and trenching oversight, groundwater monitoring and injection/recovery well installations, aquifer testing, multi-media sampling, and field mapping
Conduct analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and analytical data obtained during field investigations
Evaluate remedial performance and direct appropriate O&M and system optimization activities
Prepare a variety of technical reports: remedial alternative evaluations, feasibility studies, pilot test work plans, remedial design, contractor specifications & bid documents, remedial performance evaluation, pre-design investigation, etc
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting
Prepare and implement site-specific Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)
Remain current in latest environmental engineering techniques and emerging contaminants of concern
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in environmental engineering
Engineer in Training Certification
Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods and their application to environmental and project work-related issues
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements
Knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs
Knowledge of the techniques used in identifying, measuring, sampling and studying environmental control
Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies
Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred
Master's Degree in Engineering
Essential Professional Licensure/Certification
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired
