The role involves supporting engineering and manufacturing through hardware design, troubleshooting, and conducting tests to ensure compliance and performance of electronic systems.

Responsibilities

Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Engineers or management and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units

Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance

Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshoot functions

Sets up standard test apparatus or devises to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models

Analyzes and interprets test data

Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance

May write technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations

Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions

Reads wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components

Performs preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems

Adjusts or replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron

Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions, working with external and/or internal sources as necessary to procure replacement parts

May maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment

Provides user applications or engineering support or recommendations for new or existing equipment regarding installation, upgrades, or enhancements

Provides customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use

Required

Vocational or Technical Certificate in related field and at a minimum of 5-10 years of directly related experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a directly related field

Ability to solve practical problems and basic understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen

Knowledge of specific software (CAD design, Altium, analysis, ERP…)

Ability to solder and de-solder
