Senior Email & SMS Message Marketing Strategist

They are seeking a Senior Email & SMS Message Marketing Strategist to lead a team responsible for lifecycle strategy across email, SMS, and direct mail for a portfolio of high-growth clients, optimizing customer journeys and driving performance improvements.

Responsibilities
Own the lifecycle roadmap (email, SMS, direct mail, loyalty) for 5–7 high-growth eCommerce brands
Develop 30-day-out calendars that align with product launches, promotions, and paid-media pushes
Write clear, on-brand copy briefs and flow outlines—tailoring voice, tone, and storytelling to each brand’s unique identity
Build segmentation frameworks and customer journeys that maximize engagement and lifetime value
Use AI tools and advanced analytics to surface new opportunities and streamline workflows
Analyze deliverability, engagement, CVR, RPR, and cohort LTV; refine benchmarks and spot trends
Design and run A/B and multivariate tests (creative, cadence, offers, segments) and translate results into actionable next steps
Pilot emerging retention channels—including loyalty tiers, push notifications, and in-app messaging—and share learnings with the team
Document best practices and contribute to internal training sessions that upskill the broader retention group
Delegate campaign and flow builds to Retention Coordinators; review, QA, and provide feedback
Coordinate with design and copy teams to secure assets and keep ClickUp timelines on track
Mentor junior team members, helping them grow their strategic and technical skills
Join monthly or bi-weekly client calls (Account Managers lead) to present strategy, insights, and testing roadmaps
Deliver concise, data-driven performance summaries that highlight wins, gaps, and next steps
Partner with Account Managers to ensure retention plans dovetail seamlessly with broader growth initiatives
Qualification
Required
4+ years email-marketing experience, 2+ years SMS experience
Hands-on Klaviyo mastery: campaigns, flows, segmentation, deliverability, reporting
Proven success managing 5+ eCommerce accounts simultaneously
Daily channel operations: calendar ownership, content planning, build/QA, A/B testing, measurement
Loyalty & rewards program strategy and execution
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for email troubleshooting
Advanced understanding of: Full-funnel lifecycle (prospecting → retention → reactivation) & cohort LTV analysis
Email/SMS segmentation, tracking pixels, product catalogs, merge tags/dynamic insertion
Core metrics: OR, CTR, CVR, RPR, list growth, engagement rates
Strong copywriting skills for campaign and flow briefs
Confident communicator with experience summarizing performance insights for stakeholders
Exceptional time-management and project-management discipline
Preferred
1+ Year Direct-mail platform familiarity
Prior agency experience
Team-lead or people-management background
Push notification and mobile-app messaging experience
Shopify, GA4, Triple Whale, or Northbeam expertise
