Responsibilities

Pitch, develop, and produce both short- and long-term investigative and enterprise stories
Dig deep into complex issues, find untold angles, and uncover what others miss
Use open records laws, data analysis, and innovative research methods to drive reporting
Build and maintain strong source networks across our coverage area
Write and deliver stories in a clear, compelling, and authentic voice across TV, digital, social, and streaming platforms
Shoot and edit high-quality visual content using the latest gear and editing tools
Create content that’s not only informative but highly shareable and impactful
Enhance storytelling with graphics, data visualizations, social media elements, and user-generated content
Collaborate with producers, editors, photographers, and digital staff to maximize storytelling potential
Contribute to story development meetings and help shape the direction of ongoing coverage
Help cover breaking news as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
3–5+ years of investigative journalism experience preferred
Experience using open records tools (FOIA/CPRA), PACER, LexisNexis, and public databases
Must be a strong storyteller with the ability to make the complicated understandable
Clear, compelling writing style adaptable for multiple platforms
Must be able to use all available tools to enhance stories, including AI
Digital-first mindset with strong understanding of social platforms and audience engagement
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Calm and confident under pressure, especially in breaking news situations
Strong organizational and time management skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred

3–5+ years of investigative journalism experience preferred
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere is a plus
Bilingual (English & Spanish) a plus
