Marine Electrician I
Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. is an industry leader providing engineering and industrial services to the U.S. Navy and other DoD organizations. They are seeking a Marine Electrician I to support ship repair and modernization projects, focusing on the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex electrical systems on vessels.

Responsibilities
Inspect, repair, install, modify, terminate, test and maintain electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment
Follow basic repair procedures and instructions required to perform production operations
Assist with the performance of system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation
Assist with preparing and installing equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications
Read and comprehend electrical schematics
Use electronic equipment & a variety of tools to troubleshoot
Perform operational tests on installed equipment and systems
Utilize knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within industry and NAVSEA Standard Items
Construct or fabricate parts: drill out boxes, rebuild MCTs, complete cableways
Qualification
Required
Read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints
Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of basic electrical repair, fabrication, and installation
Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance and must be able to obtain DBIDS and be able to access local shipyards and US Navy bases
Must possess basic hand tools
Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
Must be able to pass an Audiogram & Respirator Fit Test
Exposure to open-air environments, including noisy, hot, and cold conditions
Required to visit project sites aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore
Must wear various types of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing, eye, head, and hand protection, as required
Site visits may involve standing on a variety of surfaces and angles, bending, crouching, and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge or boat structural components
Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels
Must possess sufficient visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and night vision to inspect marine components and systems, identify defects or irregularities, and safely operate tools and equipment
May work in confined spaces with limited ventilation
Requires prolonged periods of sedentary work, including sitting and/or standing
May be required to operate machinery, power tools, and/or heavy equipment
Must be able to communicate effectively to exchange and comprehend information
Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions, including high heat and extreme cold
Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on the task requirements
Must be physically able to ride ships at sea for extended periods, including withstanding ship motion and working in various sea conditions
Preferred
Some experience with shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communications, control systems, and electronic equipment
Prior experience working on military or commercial vessels, especially in support of the U.S. Navy, is highly desirable
