Divisions Maintenance Group provides facility maintenance services to retail chains and distribution and fulfillment centers across the country. The Senior Staff Engineer is responsible for participating in all levels of the software development process, leading through example, and ensuring adherence to design engineering standards while mentoring and influencing other engineers.

Responsibilities

Create, implement, and maintain the reference architecture

Define the design engineering standards of the enterprise

Code approx. 50% of the time, taking on the most difficult problems the organization faces

Fight technical debt

Ensure that the teams’ root cause analysis of incidents truly addresses the situation systematically vs a one off

Understand the needs of their customer and the business

Stay abreast of the latest and emerging technologies

Support the development & implementation of the DMG technical strategy that is complementary to our product strategy

Seek out Staff Engineers for counsel and be approachable and supportive

Coach and mentor fellow engineers to grow their technical competencies

Influence their partners in Product and the rest of the company

Define the hiring standards and actively participate in the hiring process

Other duties as assigned by management

Required

Degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science or engineering

15+ years of experience developing enterprise b2b systems and mission critical applications

Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, micro-services, observability, distributed systems, streaming, networking, testing and test automation, RPC (gRPC preferred)

Mastery of SQL and NoSQL databases

Excellent in .Net and JVM languages

Ability to manage the stress of a fast-paced environment

Ability to meet the in-person requirements of the team and/or business needs
