Senior Cloud Application Architect

Padmore Global Connections is seeking a Senior Cloud Application Architect for the Georgia Department of Human Services' Office of Information Technology. The role involves designing and implementing scalable, secure cloud-based solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and agency-specific requirements, focusing on technologies such as AWS, microservices, and DevOps practices.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance applications and systems using Java, C++, NodeJS, and Spring Boot. Focus on designing microservices-based architectures to enable flexibility, scalability, and ease of maintenance, ensuring solutions meet technical and business requirements
Ensure that the proposed solution approach is verified against industry standards, best practices, and the specific standards followed by the agency or organization. Review design decisions, technical choices, and ensure that they are applicable, relevant, and compliant with applicable regulations, frameworks, and security standards
Design, develop, and implement microservices-based solutions that break down monolithic applications into manageable, modular components, promote scalability, resiliency, and independent deployment. Ensure that microservices are secure, efficient, and adhere to best practices
Architect cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, EKS). Design and implement cloud-native solutions that prioritize availability, security, and cost efficiency
Experience in managing and automating infrastructure deployments using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure cloud resource management across multiple environments
Leverage Salesforce and ServiceNow platforms for seamless integration and automation, optimizing customer relationship management (CRM) and IT service management (ITSM) workflows
Design and implement monitoring solutions for infrastructure, applications, and business processes using Dynatrace and Splunk, ensuring integration between the monitoring tools and other system components (Cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, etc.)
Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodePipeline. Implement DevOps practices to automate code deployment, testing, and infrastructure provisioning, ensuring they adhere to security and compliance standards
Utilize Docker for containerizing applications and Kubernetes or AWS ECS/EKS for container orchestration, enabling highly scalable and portable applications
Design and manage both relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB). Ensure database scalability, performance optimization, and proper integration with applications while adhering to the agency's data governance standards
Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure that external solutions and products integrate seamlessly with overall architecture. Evaluate vendor solutions, manage expectations, and ensure delivery within scope, timeline, and quality standards
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, operations, and security teams, to align solutions with business objectives. Ensure seamless communication and integration across various workstreams and stakeholders
Continuously evaluate the performance and efficiency of existing systems, proposing improvements and optimizations to enhance scalability, security, and user experience. Ensure solutions remain adaptable and relevant as business requirements evolve
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to architectural best practices. Mentor junior architects and developers
