ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory: River Engineering Research Internship

Responsibilities
You will be mentored on researching trends and causes of morphological change in rivers
This will include both natural and anthropogenic causes, such as wildfires and river training structures
With guidance from a mentor and in collaboration with established river engineers and researchers, you will conduct background literature reviews and data analyses to support fluvial geomorphology studies
You will also test river morphology tools developed at ERDC and use them to perform uncertainty analyses
You will learn and gain knowledge in common analytical techniques and tools used in fluvial geomorphology
You will draw on engineering concepts such as system mass balances, data uncertainty, and model sensitivity
You will engage in project team discussions to collaborate with other researchers on findings, give and receive feedback, and place your research in the greater context
You will practice research documentation at all stages to record and communicate the model development and application process
Qualification
Required
Degree in engineering
Demonstrated track record of collecting and organizing data
Experience with data analysis software like Excel, Python, and Matlab
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
Degree: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree received within the last 60 months or currently pursuing
Discipline(s): Engineering (various specializations listed)
Age: Must be 18 years of age
