Responsibilities
Study the effects of oxidative stress on the physiological functions of cerebral vessels
Use neonatal pigs as a clinically relevant large animal model of cerebral vascular disease and blood-brain barrier disruption caused by epileptic seizures and hypoxia-asphyxia
Emphasize endogenous antioxidant cytoprotective mechanisms in the neonatal brain
Combine intravital microscopy of the brain vasculature with cellular-molecular studies in cerebrovascular myocytes, endothelial cells, and astrocytes to identify the mechanisms of neurovascular survival during oxidative stress
Qualification
Required
PhD or MD
Proficiency in vascular physiology or a related field
Experience in molecular biology, pharmacology and biochemistry fields related to basic and translational cardiac and neurovascular metabolic disorders
Previous research experience in cardiovascular and neurological sciences and animal models of disease
Preferred
Previous research experience in cardiovascular and neurological sciences and animal models of disease is highly desirable
