CT/Radiology Technologist - South Austin Region

Altus Community Healthcare is seeking a CT/Radiology Technologist to join their team at the Austin Emergency Center in the South Austin Region. The role involves operating radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety, and performing additional patient care duties.

Responsibilities

Operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Physician in accordance with the Radiologist accepted protocol
Proficient in the positioning of the patient and examining table to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
Practice radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle in mind, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to maximize radiation protection to patient and staff
Operate CAT SCAN equipment to produce Computed Tomography (CT scans) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Physician in accordance with the Radiologist protocol
Administer and consent for contrast both IV and oral, while being aware of all possible reactions and side effects
Fill out appropriate paperwork and ensure proper documentation in patients’ chart
Ensure patient safety and satisfaction, while acquiring an acceptable exam of diagnostic quality
Responsible for additional patient care duties including starting IVs, drawing blood, operating lab testing equipment and running patient samples, changing of beds, cleaning of rooms, and stocking linens

Required

Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology
At least 2 years of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
Basic computer skills
Current State Licensure (Required)
Current BCLS Certification (Required)
