mmWave/RF IC Design Engineer

SkyGig is a company focused on developing innovative beamforming technology to improve wireless broadband communication. They are seeking a mmWave/RF IC Design Engineer to research, develop, and implement their beamforming front-end technology, including designing transceiver blocks and collaborating with a team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

Design transceiver blocks for mmWave systems and beamforming architectures
Translate product and system requirements into detailed radio and IC block level specifications
Design assistance in schematic and layout of mmWave and RF front-end building blocks such as LNA, PA, Mixer, VCO, Switches, etc
Perform testing and characterization of prototypes in a lab environment
Work across a cross-functional collaborative team of bright engineers and scientists
Prepare technical documents and reports and participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions

Required

Possesses or is pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Master's degree with 3+ years of mmWave/RFIC experience
Strong background in RF and mmWave state-of-the-art CMOS, SOI, or SiGe technologies
Proficient in mmWave IC design tools such as Cadence, ADS, and HFSS
Deep understanding of system specifications and capable of translating system requirements into circuit requirements at IC level
Great knowledge of various RF transceiver architectures
Proven tape-out experience in design and implementation of mmWave transceiver blocks
Hands-on experience with mmWave transceiver test methods and familiar with RF test equipment
Experience in writing scripts for simulation and test models (using MATLAB or other programming languages)
Comfortable working and solving problems independently as well as collaboratively within a team
Strong written and oral communication skills in English and comfortable explaining technical concepts to the rest of the team

Preferred

Familiar with digital communication systems and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK and QAM, and their impact on performance
Knowledge of electromagnetics and phased array antenna concepts and their impact on mmWave IC performance
