Responsibilities
Electrical Design:
Equipment arrangements
Underground duct bank layouts
Conduit and cable tray layouts
One-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Installation details
Lighting and grounding systems
Produce detailed design drawings for construction, including:
Translate general project requirements into working electrical designs using 3D and 2D CAD software
Apply knowledge of construction processes and field experience
Ensure designs align with project specifications, industry standards, and quality control processes. Knowledge of codes and standards include NEC, NFPA, IEEE, API, IBC, IFC
Validate designs against constructability and maintainability requirements
Incorporate equipment suppliers’ submittals into electrical designs
Collaboration:
Work closely with electrical engineers and other team members
Integrate electrical designs into multi-disciplinary models (e.g., mechanical, structural) for seamless project coordination
Solicit technical input from equipment and material suppliers
Assist in mentoring junior designers and engineers on best practices in 3D CAD modeling, power plant design, and industrial plant design
Quality Assurance:
Participate in design reviews, ensuring accuracy and quality of electrical designs to meet project requirements and industry standards
Coordinate with the engineering team to resolve design-related issues and support construction activities
Qualification
Required
10-years of electrical drafting/design experience
Experience in power generation or industrial electrical design
Familiarity with power plant construction standards and processes
10+ years of experience in electrical design for power plants or similar industrial environments
Proficiency in 3D and 2D AutoCAD software with a strong focus on electrical system design
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers and other stakeholders
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Bently Raceway Cable Management (BRCM) experience
Experience in mentoring and development of junior staff
