Amazon is launching the Amazon Leo initiative to provide broadband connectivity through a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. They are seeking a Product Design Engineer who will engage with a cross-disciplinary team to design and bring to market innovative consumer products for the program, focusing on mechanical part and assembly design, testing, and collaboration with manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

PD Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) for multiple system components (housings, PCBs, thermal components, etc)

Work with cross functional team to solve difficult electromechanical problems to enable the design

Identify key design constrains and priorities

Demonstrate solid mechanical fundamentals and judgement through design decisions

Deliver robust, flexible, durable, and performant designs

Concise and accurate communication with PD members, cross functional teams, and executives

Customer focused when solving ambiguous problems

Ability to create scalable solutions while solving tactical problems

Required

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related fields of study

3+ years of experience product design (consumer, medical, telecom, etc)

3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling & 2D drawing creation

Experience with designing for high volume manufacturing and assembly processes (plastic injection / thermoforming, casting, sheet metal, machining, various finishing processes)

Experience performing tolerance analysis and statistical analysis techniques
