Postdoctoral Appointee: Power system optimization and data analytics
Argonne National Laboratory is engaged in innovative research to enhance the resilience and efficiency of power grids. They are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to work on optimization, stochastic models, machine learning, and control in the energy sector, focusing on algorithm development and dissemination of research results.

Responsibilities
Work with a team of researchers on solving challenging problems using optimization, stochastic models, machine learning, and control in the energy sector
Perform theoretical study and algorithm development on optimization/control/data analytics methods
Authorize peer-reviewed journal/conference publications
Develop open-source packages and help disseminate research results to academic and industry community
Draft research proposals and apply for funding from federal agencies
Qualification
Required
Recent or soon-to-be completed (typically within the last 0-5 years) PhD in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
Solid knowledge, and independent research capability in optimization, computing, power system engineering with track records of publications
Proficient in implementing control and optimization algorithms with mainstream programming languages such as Julia, Python, Java, C/C++, etc
Proficiency in writing scientific research articles and presenting results at academic conferences
Experience with solving challenging computational problems
Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
This position requires an on-site presence at the Argonne campus in Lemont, Illinois
Preferred
Solid knowledge and independent research capability in stochastic process, machine learning and data analytics with track records of publications
