The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) is seeking qualified forensic psychologists to join its esteemed faculty at the Harris County Psychiatric Center and the John S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center. The role involves teaching, clinical supervision, conducting competency examinations, and providing assessments and recommendations for treatment planning.

Responsibilities

Conducts competency to stand trial examinations for patients committed to competency restoration within the UTHealth-HCPC/BSC inpatient and/or outpatient competency restoration programs
Delivers recommendations and/or consultations to interdisciplinary treatment teams for individualized competency restoration and treatment planning following relevant ethical standards
Provides proficient assessment administration and interpretation related to malingering, personality, serious mental illness, and dual diagnoses
Supervises and teaches psychology trainees, including interns, practicum students, fellows, and psychiatry residents
Trains staff and consults as needed
Participates in clinical, research, and educational missions of the department
Provides cross-coverage as needed as part of the inpatient adult psychology consult service

Qualification

PsyD. in psychologyLicensed psychologist in TexasForensic psychology guidelinesForensic training expertiseTeaching skillsClinical supervision

Required

PsyD or Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program
Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a psychologist consistent with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council
Proficient knowledge and application of the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology and the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure
Documentation verifying relevant forensic training or expertise, as specified in Article 46B.022 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure
Two redacted forensic report samples if invited to an interview
