Industrial Engineer (Project Leader 1/2)

Responsibilities

Support Production Support Services (PSS) within ALDWP which is responsible for planning and scheduling Pit manufacturing at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
Assist with project management of their projects and establish requirements for the projects
Assist organizing and standardizing specific requirements for the projects, ensuring they are clearly defined
Help with the development of work packages
Managing software licenses for the group
Coordinating training for the teams to ensure they are all meeting the required training
Be a project lead for various project types the team is working on
Report project statuses and issues to the program manager and to Laboratory senior managers and workers
Oversee small project team(s) in the planning, tracking, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion
Manage these project scopes and ensure the timely completion of specific non-science or non-engineering projects
Establish requirements for the project
Define and/or execute project deliverables, budgets, and schedules
Collaborate with management to assist with organizing all relevant projects
Keep track of all software and software licenses needed for the group
Help facilitate and organize teams and their projects in the IE team
Negotiate with program and line managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work
Identify procurement and contracting needs
Marshal resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages
Identify potential project risks, developing risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions
Recommend risk acceptance/avoidance for all aspects of the project(s)
Interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts

Required

Knowledge and experience in most aspects of project leadership and project facilitation and management with the ability to become proficient in all
Experience in developing operating and financial plans
Basic knowledge of project budgets including cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis, project scheduling, implementation of corrective actions, developing and delivering detailed and accurate status reports and basic knowledge of/and experience with engineering functions and principles required to understand and successfully implement and monitor technical projects
Ability to lead teams in researching or solving business-critical problems
Producing dashboards, including graphs, tables, and other visualizations
Creating presentation decks using PowerPoint (or similar)
Providing written reports of your findings
Working closely with the team leads to solve statistical business problems
Consulting with internal teams and external clients to determine their ongoing business needs, and to find solutions to them
Strong communication skills in oral and written communication as well as applying team building concepts
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of project management tools and techniques relating to all project activities
Knowledge of project processes and an understanding of project management activities, such as planning, budgeting and performance measurement
Demonstrated Advanced Project Management Skills and Experience
Working knowledge and experience in supporting strategic and tactical planning and execution of a mid-sized portfolio
Demonstrated record of successfully supporting or leading cross-organization teams to ensure complex technologies or products are delivered within budget and on schedule
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

LSS or PMP certification from an accredited source
Contribute to teams through a problem-solving methodology (Lean Six Sigma projects and process improvement projects) using process and value stream mapping
Carrying out statistical research, prototyping new systems, and finding new ways of gathering, cleaning, and analyzing data
Help develop innovative advanced concepts, theories, methods, techniques and approaches to address specialized problems
Work with leaders to influence organizational, project, and program strategies and directions
Knowledge of project management of work, including developing project plans, work breakdown structures, and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions
Knowledge of the discipline of the assigned project
Ability to develop and nurture effective internal customer relationships
Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts
Existing DOE 'Q' clearance (or similar)
