Responsibilities

Assume a project lead role directing other engineers and designers to develop ship mooring arrangement drawings, perform mooring analysis, perform structural analysis of deck fittings and their support structure, and perform ship-checks, all to demonstrate compliance of mooring system with applicable Rules/Codes/Standards
Develop project schedules and provide regular updates to customer
Provide quality assurance for mooring arrangement drawings, mooring analysis reports, and structural analysis reports
Apply ABS, IMO, OCIMF and UFC Rules/Codes/Standards applicable to mooring system design, installation, and operation
Write and perform reviews of deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and SOWs for technical correctness and regulatory, and contract compliance
Lead a team of engineers performing ship-checks located throughout the World (up to approximately 10% of time spent on travel)
Interface with customers, vendors, shipyards, and internal team members
Train less experienced engineers

Required

Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of naval engineering/naval architecture/marine engineering/offshore engineering
Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and analyzing mooring arrangements
Experience performing mooring analysis using quasi-static method, such as Optimoor® software
Knowledge of Rules/Codes/standards applicable to design of mooring system for commercial vessels
Experience manipulating and developing CAD files using AutoCAD
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred

Experience performing mooring analysis using fully-coupled dynamic analysis
Experience performing deck fitting and deck structural analysis using finite element analysis
Knowledge of OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines
Experience applying NAVSEA's NSTM and DDS/DPC 582 Mooring approaches to Navy Ships
Specialized knowledge of mooring equipment (winches, fittings, etc.), mooring lines (materials, connectors, etc.), and fenders
Knowledge of design considerations when switching mooring lines from wire rope to synthetic
Previous/current government security clearance
