Responsibilities

Supporting the planning, design, and execution of public works, land development, transportation, and utility projects by engineering standards and regulatory requirements
Performing technical reviews of plans and reports
Conducting field inspections
Ensuring compliance with contractor and consultant requirements
Preparing thorough project documentation
Serving as a key liaison between City departments, external developers, engineers, and the community

Required

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or electrical engineering OR, equivalent related work experience
Three years of progressively responsible land development design and field experience or capital construction project engineering or electrical engineering experience
A valid and current registration as a Professional Civil or Electrical Engineer with the California State Licensing Board

Preferred

Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to public works and land development
Adept at reviewing complex plans, including rough and precise grading, street improvements, and utility layouts
Experience with technical reports such as hydrology and water quality management plans to ensure regulatory compliance and project integrity
Demonstrated sound judgment and analytical skills in performing engineering calculations, managing permits, coordinating construction inspections, and overseeing developer-driven projects
Detail-oriented and organized approach to maintain accurate project documentation and uphold safety and quality standards
Exceptional communication abilities to collaborate effectively with City staff, consultants, contractors, and the public
Proficiency in Accela to manage plan check workflows, track permits, and document inspections
