Trinity Health MI is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered care. They are seeking a Cytotechnologist who will prepare, process, and screen cytology specimens while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Responsibilities
Performs all cytology testing and procedures
Operates all cytology equipment: cytology stainer, microscope, centrifuge and biological safety hood
Performs special staining and instrument trouble-shooting
Screens pap smears with the Bethesda scoring method
Conducts analytical functions as calculating, weighing and correlating of information
Able to multi-task under a volume based work environment
Able to organize and prioritize work to meet customer needs
Must be a team player, able to flex out and help with completing work as soon as possible
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills, to patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff
Accurately articulates clinical knowledge and experience to assist doctors and nurses in their role
Demonstrates good customer service skills
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with one year of cytology training at an accredited institution
ASCP certification or eligible. Must be certified within one year of hire or promotion
Must be able to operate cytology stainer, microscope, centrifuge and biological safety hood
Must be able to screen pap smears using the Bethesda scoring method
Position requires walking, standing, bending and occasional lifting of objects 20 pounds or less
Exposure to infectious disease and hazardous chemicals
All clinical laboratory testing requires concentration and attention to detail
Position requires 20 – 50% of the day be spent on computer data entry
Preferred
One year hospital lab experience
Computer skills
