Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) is seeking a skilled, proactive, and experienced Patent Agent to join our team part-time, developing patents for our mission-driven research in clean energy and environmental fields. In this role, you'll work closely with our PhD researchers and take full ownership of the patent process—from drafting to award—in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and PCT patent applications related to PCI's cutting-edge technologies
Work closely with engineers and scientists to understand and document inventions
Manage and maintain the patent portfolio, ensuring all deadlines are met
Coordinate with affiliated legal resources (outside counsel and in-house Paralegal) and grow internal patent knowledge
Collaborate with foreign attorneys on patent applications filed and prosecuted in foreign countries
Provide guidance on best practices for intellectual property protection and strategy

Required

Registered patent agent with an understanding of U.S. and PCT patent law and procedures
Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field
Experience in drafting patent applications and prosecuting patents is required
Strong understanding of clean energy and environmental technologies, particularly in fuel cells, catalysis, or emissions technologies
Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic setting

Preferred

Prior experience with patent litigation or IP strategy is a bonus
