Responsibilities

Triage patients and perform lab work/diagnostic imaging
Assist veterinarians in delivering top-quality patient care
Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients
Prepare and maintain surgical suites, instruments, and equipment
Support anesthesia set-up, monitoring, and patient prep
Ensure sterilization protocols are followed before, during, and after surgery
Monitor patients through recovery and ensure comfort/safety
Communicate post-op care and medication instructions to clients
Manage surgical inventory, supplies, and records

Required

Licensed Veterinary Technician in New York, or an experienced veterinary technician on track to obtain licensure within 6 months
Minimum 2 years of experience as a veterinary surgical assistant, including anesthesia monitoring
In-depth knowledge of surgical preparation, anesthesia protocols, and drug administration
Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to following strict safety and sterilization standards
Compassionate, collaborative, and confident handling animals of all sizes
Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
