InternNorth Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Nurse Intern to assist with routine nursing procedures under supervision. The role involves documenting patient information and prioritizing patient care while maintaining good standing in a nursing program.

Responsibilities
Performs routine nursing procedures and tasks related to patients within assigned area under the supervision of a nurse
Documents in the electronic health record as appropriate
This includes vital signs, activities of daily living, weight, intake/ output, and other basic task
Qualification
Required
Must be enrolled in one of the final two (2) semesters of a nursing program leading to an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Must maintain good standing in the school of nursing where enrolled
Must be able to use equipment essential for patient care and follow hospital guidelines for non-critical equipment cleaning
Must meet and maintain continuing education requirements
Maintains knowledge and resources necessary to provide age appropriate care
Must be able to recognize changes and abnormalities in the patient's condition and report to the registered nurse
Must be able to perform collect blood (by venipuncture), urine and sputum specimen
Must be able to perform point of care testing for glucose and occult blood
Must be able to insert simple urinary catheters with the assistant of other licensed nurse
Must be able to prioritize patient care, perform assigned duties and report to the registered nurse/ charge nurse
Maintain all of the NMHS Behavioral Standards
Required to project a positive presence and professional image to all patients, families and others
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills
