Responsibilities
Ability to work in a factory Union/Non-Union environment/Ability to travel 50% or more of the time depending on the need
Strong organizational and communication skills
Working knowledge of PSM or experience in PSM-covered processes including PHA/LOPA risk assessment, MOC/PSSR, Heat & Material Balances (HMBs), and SIFs
Innovate processes improvements in yield, energy usage, quality, and capacity improvements using tools such as plant data historians, Aspen simulation tools, and/or SAP
Develop process design bases for plant capital projects including Pre-FEED and FEED studies
Collaborate with Process Technology to develop commercial designs from scale-up studies
Provide technical support to plants for high impact issues
Benchmark and measure product line KPIs across global sites and implement best practices to drive improvements
Experienced with distributed control systems (DCS) and safety instrumented systems (SIS)
Knowledgeable of standards such as API,ASME,NFPA, etc
Supervise, coordinate and oversee work of process engineers within region/technology group
Identify KPIs for key product line processes to benchmark global performance across plants
Develop strategic plan for product line technology to advance future process improvement innovation pipeline
Identify Subject Matter Expert (SME) key competencies and development plans for critical competencies in product line technology for future SMEs
Drive Excellence in Process Safety
PHAs: Provide technical assistance with PHAs/LOPAs, CAPAs, specify SIF requirements
MOCs: Initiate and execute MOCs for process improvements and capital projects, as needed
Process Design: Develop Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), PSV calculation Bases, capital project process design bases, process control functional specification narratives for new processes and collaborate with production to address gaps in current Process Safety Information (PSI)
Incident Investigation: Provide technical support as needed to ensure root causes are correctly identified
Create Value Through Innovation in Process Optimization
Identify, evaluate, and execute medium-term initiatives to drive improvements in yield, energy usage, capacity, and quality
Partner with cross-functional teams including production and maintenance to ensure solutions are sustainable
Leverage global process knowledge to ensure best practices are shared to drive improvements
Lead/support plant trials, as needed, for process improvements to mitigate business, quality, safety, and production risks
Develop Innovative Designs
Develop process design bases for capital projects
Lead feasibility studies for potential new initiatives
Ensure technically sound detailed process engineering design is delivered to project team, including external engineering work
Participate on commissioning and startup teams, as needed
Own Technology of Plant Assets
Coordinate with process technology to ensure successful implementation of new product and process technologies
Lead/support plant trials, as needed, for new or improved products and new process technologies to mitigate business, quality, safety, and production risks and to document and trial data and results
Develop big picture step change improvements of strategic plant assets
Develop strategic options for asset/product line footprints
Provide Technical Production Support
Provide technical assistance to plants for high impact issues and troubleshooting, as needed
Partner with process technology and other cross functional teams, to develop practical solutions to plant problems, as needed
Provide mentoring to production engineers
Provide Strategic Technological Leadership
Supervise department process engineers
Coordinate work within region/technology group as needed
Develop strategic plans for process engineering technology development for your technology group (i.e. Alkly Phenols, Anti-Oxidants, Resins, etc.)
Create development plan for subject matter experts within technology group
Qualification

B.S. Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline
