The City and County of Honolulu is seeking a Plans Examining Engineer V to join the Department of Planning and Permitting. This role involves independent professional engineering work in reviewing and analyzing complex building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with engineering practices and the Building Code.

Qualification
Required
Must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States
One year of registered professional Civil or Structural engineering experience, which shall have been representative of the next lower level (i.e., Plans Examining Engineer IV level)
Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil or Structural Engineering
Applicants with an out-of-state license in Civil or Structural Engineering must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment
Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3), prior to appointment
