They are seeking a Charge Off & Recovery Specialist to manage post-charge-off recovery processes, including legal compliance, vendor relations, and member communications, while minimizing losses for the credit union.

Responsibilities

Primary contact to members and staff on all charge off related questions

Must have a strong up-to-date understanding of all legal processes pertaining to the Asset Recovery including small claims and cases involving suit, garnishment, and attaching liens

Attempt to locate payment or collateral on post charge offs through related account searches and skip tracing

Responsible for accurate record keeping and proper notation of all transactions

Charges off non-performing loan and visa accounts

Post charge off payments in a timely manner and properly record recovery

Create payment arrangements on post charge off loans, balancing out the best course of action for the credit union and what members can afford

Follow up on post charge off payment arrangements

Review settlement requests and provide recommendations to management

Complete validation of debt requests from members and from collection agencies

Submits account for legal action such as garnishment, and liens and work with attorneys as needed

Balance all Asset Recovery Department general ledgers and spreadsheets

Submits the quarterly NCUA Call Report pertaining to Asset Recovery

Handle all agency assignment inquiries and serve as primary contact to agency staff

Oversee1099c reporting to the IRS

Post collection agency recovery checks and update Credit Bureau

Must be able to gather facts and data to make gray area decisions within their role

Bachelor's degree preferred or 2 years in Asset Recovery or equivalent experience in fields such as accounting or legal

Must be able to gather facts and data to make gray area decisions within their role
