Prototype Carpenter

Responsibilities

Interpret and execute complex shop drawings, renderings, and technical specifications with precision
Fabricate high-quality wood prototypes using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery
Work with hardwoods, veneers, and engineered wood panels to create functional and visually accurate mockups
Install custom wood components as needed for review, presentation, or testing purposes
Collaborate with engineering, production, and finishing teams to ensure proper fit, finish, and manufacturability
Troubleshoot construction challenges and propose practical solutions during prototyping
Provide feedback on design feasibility, material selections, and potential production improvements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area that supports efficient project flow
Contribute to the continuous improvement of prototype processes, standards, and documentation Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Experience in architectural millwork or retail fixture manufacturing preferred
Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design programs is a plus
Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes related to wood products
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files
Detail-oriented with a commitment to craftsmanship and quality
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability during iterative design changes
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
2+ years of experience in carpentry or millwork, preferably in a prototype or custom build environment
Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, machinery, and joinery techniques
Experience working with hardwoods, veneers, and engineered wood products
Must be able to work in hot and cold climates
Varying work schedules based on business need are sometimes required
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
Ability to read drawings and blueprints
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
Ability to carry and lift materials up to 25 lbs
