Principal System Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
Performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasks
Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives

Required

Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 6 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions
Experience developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
